A delighted group of ladies from Wexford, calling themselves ‘The Wexford Lassies’, collected their €250,000 prize, the second highest prize in the Millionaire Raffle draw which took place on New Year’s Eve, 31 December 2011. The lucky ladies purchased their ticket in the Post Office in Bannow, Co. Wexford. Their lucky ticket number was 074488.
The winners – Mary Roche (who bought the winning ticket); Rita Kinsella, Debbie Tierney and Ann Hayes – are all married, live in Wexford and work together in Theo Bennings Electrical Company. They have played the Millionaire Raffle game since it began and this is their biggest prize to date.
Plans for the win include: ‘paying off the bills, and a trip to Memphis is definitely on the cards for me’, said Mary Roche who is a big Elvis Presley fan.
Also today, a lucky man from south County Dublin picked up a cheque for €250,000. The man, who wishes to keep the win private, won the top prize in the Lotto Plus 2 draw last night.
“I checked the ticket last night after the draw,” said the happy man. “I was delighted when I realised I had won €250,000.”
The man bought his lucky €12 Quick Pick ticket in Newspost, Stillorgan Shopping Centre, Co. Dublin on the day of the draw. He has no immediate plans for the win.
