It was a great Friday feeling today in National Lottery offices for a West Co. Dublin couple when they collected their EuroMillions Match 5 and 1 Lucky Star prize of €632,452. They won this prize in last Friday’s EuroMillions draw, 24th September 2010, after the lucky husband played EuroMillions with a €10 Quickpick ticket purchased via the Internet on the National Lottery’s ‘Play Online’ service. This service was launched in March 2009.
This is the second time this year that a major Lottery prize has been won through the National Lottery’s Play Online service. In February 2010, a lucky Cork man won a Lotto jackpot of €5,513,556 by playing Lotto via the Internet. The lucky man said that his ‘ambition was to scubadive on the Barrier Reef.’
Today’s ‘Play Online’ winners declared themselves ‘over the moon’ with the win and collecting it on the day when the EuroMillions jackpot was a guaranteed €100 million was even better.
‘I travel a lot with my work’, said the lucky husband, describing himself as a ‘professional who works fulltime. Using the Internet to purchase my lottery tickets is a dream because it means that even if I am abroad with work, my numbers are in, and I never miss a draw. This was one of the main reasons I registered to play online in May this year.’
‘Another major concern of mine, particularly as I travel a lot, is security. What if I lost my ticket while travelling, and it turned out to be a winner? Playing online means that I never worry about this because my numbers are registered and I have three months to collect’, said the delighted married man.
‘I’m not going to retire – I love my work and as long as I have the health to do it, I will continue. This money is a source of great security for myself, my wife and our two adult children. We can now indulge in a long awaited trip to Rome, which I have promised my wife for many months’.

I’ve already purchased my ticket for tonight’s big EuroMillions €100 million jackpot so I could be back in here on Monday.
