The National Water-ski Championships splash out

Lough Muckno Club takes to the waves with €30,000

In 2009 Lough Muckno Water-ski and Wakeboard Club needed a new boat. Not just any boat though. They needed a ski boat so that they could host the annual National Water-ski Championships.

We could see that this was an investment in both sport and bringing people in to this border area from further afield, so we worked together with the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism to give the club in Castleblayney, County Monaghan a grant for €30,000.

They got their boat, and the entire area benefited from a successful Water-ski Championship and the influx of visitors that it brought. There was very little we could do to prevent participants from getting thoroughly soaked, but we didn’t hear any complaints about it.
