Playing to win at Dualla Sports Community

€88,000 plus change for new dressing rooms
It was a case of ‘If you buy it they will come’ when the community of Dualla in Tipperary purchased a six acre field, because it was very quickly choc-a-bloc with local soccer clubs, ladies’ football clubs, GAA teams, Community Games trials and all manner of competitive activities.
That was way back in 2003. Fundraising continued, because although the field was in place, the small matter of a place to change and shower wasn’t yet sorted.
By 2009 the community had driven the total gathered to a fantastic €88,000. With another €70,000, grant-aided through our Sports Capital Programme, they were able to win the ultimate prize: brand spanking new dressing rooms. Local sporting legend Denis Leamy was called on to cut the ribbon on July 11, 2009 and officially open the Denis Leamy Centre at Dualla Community Field. Coincidence with the names? We think possibly not.
Since its opening we’re guessing that the sweet smell of success probably does smell that bit sweeter now too.
