An International Affair At Killarney Table Tennis Open
The Irish Table Tennis Association (ITTA) was formed in 1937 and the Munster Branch of the ITAA has organised an Open Table Tennis Tournament for over 30 years. In the last three years, Table Tennis as a sport has received €80,000 from the National Lottery Beneficiary Fund, through the Irish Table Tennis Association (ITTA).
“The Munster Branch of the Irish Table Tennis Association is most grateful for the support of the National Lottery in assisting in the purchase of the tables for the recent Munster Open, in the INEC Gleneagle hotel in Killarney. The Munster Open was the biggest tournament in the country with a top prize of €1,000 for the Men’s Open champion. We would encourage anyone, young or old, interested in participating in the sport in Ireland to contact the Irish Table Tennis Association for details of their local club,” said Anthony Redmond, Chairman for theMunster Irish Table Tennis Association.
This year, almost 300 competitors arrived to the INEC in Killarney in January, with some competitors travelling from as far as Spain, Poland and England, a first for this competition.
